The “Aashray” is a not-for-profit organisation in West Bengal, India. Our organisation strives to fight issues like hunger and malnutrition in India, by implementing the Mid-Day Meal Scheme in the government schools and government-aided schools. Aashray aims not only to fight hunger but also to bring children to school.
Since 2012, the organisation has worked towards reaching more children with wholesome food on every single school day.
Aashray is continuously leveraging technology to cater to millions of children. Its state-of-the-art kitchens have become a subject of study and they attract curious visitors from around the world.
In partnership with the Government of India; various State Governments, the inestimable support from many businesses, philanthropic donors and well-wishers; we have grown from our humble beginnings in the year 2012, serving just 2,500 children across 14 schools.

Our education system has improved with unprecedented numbers of students graduating with a degree. However, when it comes to quality, the education centres in India still lag behind considerably in the global stage, which shows our inability to churn employable workforce. As the result, India is failing, quite miserably—the country’s formally skilled workforce is about 2% of the population—in creating adequate job opportunities, and the professionals who are entering the job market lack skill sets.
We recognise leveraging India’s demographic dividend, which includes the second largest workforce in the world, more substantially requires the amalgamation of education with skill development.
Thus, we are helping build up skill development centres in the semi-urban and rural India. With the objective to bring inclusive change, AASHRAY pan-India network of education and skill institutes are elevating the generation of unfortunate and deprived from the grip of poverty by providing target-based education and employment capabilities.
We provide a myriad of services to a large cross-section of society:
- Development of skills to make youth employable
- Training of professionals to polish competencies
- Job placement services
- Entrepreneurial skills and management projects
- Free of cost courses
We strongly believe the alignment of education with vocational skills can bring the change.
